Marcin ¦wietlicki
Born 1961 in Lublin, has lived in Kraków since 1980. A poet, studied Polish at the Jagiellonian University. Works as proofreader at Catholic weekly Tygodnik Powszechny. Has won various prizes and awards for his poetry, including the 1990 Georg Trakl prize and the 1996 Ko¶cielski Prize. In 1997, was nominated for the Nike Literary Prize.
An impaired and alien cult poet, someone who, by his own definition, has «never really or completely been in the mainstream». In 1993, led post-punk group ¦wietliki, with whom he made several records, e.g. Ogród Koncentracyjny (Concentration Garden) and Cacy Cacy Fleischmachine. Seen as an outsider, rebel and voluntary exile from the spheres of official culture.
